The Doctor from Drüben is a novel by Hans Blickensdörfer and was published by him in 1988. The novel tells the story of the spy Günther Tressel, who is imprisoned with his wife in the GDR .

The doctor from over there tells the story of the spy and Charité doctor Günther Ewert , who in the novel as Dr. Günther Tressel falls into the clutches of the GDR State Security Service and is sentenced to seven years in prison. Hans Blickensdörfer describes a German-German story that really happened. The authenticity of the story and especially the time it was published shortly before the fall of the Berlin Wall made the book known within Germany.
