The polar bear is the name of a German-Swiss music project that emerged in the spring of 2007 as a consequence of the international media hype about the polar bear Knut , who was born in the Berlin zoo . It is produced by Mike Pyczak from Berlin and PJ Wassermann from Switzerland .

background

Pyczak and Wassermann, who jointly operate online sales for independent musicians, came up with the idea of writing a song about Knut in February 2007, following the huge media interest in the fate of the young bear who had been cast out by his mother. But initially she stayed there. When Pyczak sent his colleague a text in early March 2007, he composed a melody on his guitar within half an hour. Like other Knut songs, it follows the pattern of a simple nursery rhyme.

The two recorded the song together in Wassermann's Hypermusic studios in Hersberg . After being released as a single, the song hit the German charts straight away. The Berlin Zoo, to which part of the sales proceeds, also benefits from the success of the single.
