Life

Wassermann attended schools in Basel up to the completion of the Matura type C at the Mathematisch-Naturwissenschaftlichen Gymnasium Basel . Music and guitar playing occupied him from his early youth, as a fan of the Beatles , Jimi Hendrix and Pink Floyd he played with various bands. As part of a teacher training, he completed a music course from 1973 to 1975 with individual lessons in piano , classical guitar and singing as well as harmony . Before that, in 1970, he began to work as a freelance musician in rock and blues . He took guitar lessons from various teachers, in particular the jazz musicians Oscar Klein and Thomas Moeckel . At the same time, he took up his journalistic activities with the publication of the hippie magazine Whämmli . He then worked as a freelance journalist for various newspapers and magazines, including PC Online .

From 1980 onwards, the focus of his life was his musical activity as a composer and producer. David C. Johnson , head of the electronic studio at the Basel Music Academy , gave him the expertise to run his own musical production studio. In 1981 he founded the Space Sound Studio with his wife Stella Wassermann , where he experimented and composed with synthesizers . With Hypermusic he created his own music publisher in 1987 for the publication of his sound carriers .

As a result, he continuously expanded the instruments and the technical equipment of the studio, opening up new musical possibilities and developments. This resulted in a wide variety of music projects that were released on vinyl and CD and performed live. In addition to his own projects, he created jingles , video and film scoring for various companies . From 1997 Wassermann built up an additional work area in computer science, with programming work for public and private clients. Initially with the development software Macromedia Director , then until today a specialization in database development with FileMaker Pro took place .

Music projects

In the music projects, inspirations from different areas flowed together: From the psychedelic sounds of the hippie era, from the fantasies of science fiction and from the constantly growing possibilities of electronic sound generation, productions under the name Schaltkreis Wassermann were created as cyberpunk , synth rock or experimental electronic music is called Cosmic in Italy .

The Space Sound Studio quickly got into the charts with the new sounds: 1981 with Schaltkreis Wassermann (7th place in the English synthesizer charts), 1985 with the satirical and humorous Matterhorn Project and its song MUH! (2nd place in the Swiss charts , 5th in the South African charts), Lo-lollo-Diuh (8th in the Swiss charts). Further psychedelic-electronic productions developed later, such as Eternal Bliss - live guitar psyTrance , ChillyTrippyDippy - live guitar psyChill , as well as the further development of Schaltkreis Wassermann . These projects, which are still active today, are primarily geared towards live performances, sometimes accompanied by visuals by VJ Asteriza and sometimes supported by additional musicians and dancers.

Computer science

Parallel to the musical production, Wassermann has set up a second IT / multimedia work area and created the online sales organization Fontastix. For the inventory of works of art and collections he developed the database museumPro, which is used by collectors and museums.
