Herbert Kühnemann (born June 23, 1899 in Berlin , † December 12, 1962 in Munich ) was the second President of the German Patent Office .

Life

Kühnemann worked as a judge in Berlin from 1921 to 1931, first at the Spandau District Court , later at the Higher Regional Court and the Berlin II Regional Court . In 1932 he switched to the Reich Ministry of Justice as a consultant , where he was later promoted to head of department. During this time he was the editor of an edition of the Ostrechtspflegeverordnung of September 25, 1941, together with implementing regulations. The industrial property laws from 1936 are largely based on his preparatory work.

After being captured by the Soviets, he took over the management of the Berlin office of the German Patent Office in 1950. After the death of Eduard Reimer , he was appointed President of the German Patent Office and remained so until his death.

During Kühnemann's tenure, the organizational independence of the nullity and appeal senates of the German Patent Office as the Federal Patent Court as well as the construction of the main building of the office in Munich fell.

Kühnemann, who was a member of the German delegation at the London Revision Conference on the Paris Convention in 1934 and at the Lisbon Revision Conference in 1958, was a member of the Advisory Committee of the Paris Union and Vice-President of the Committee of Patent Experts of the Council of Europe as well as a member of the Coordinating Committee for Legal Alignment on the Was the area of ​​industrial property protection in the European Economic Community , enjoyed a high reputation in the area of ​​international industrial property protection.
