The Alsatian
The Elsässer (fr .: L 'Alsacien ) was a German-language daily newspaper and appeared in Strasbourg from 1885 to 1935 .
history
The paper, first published on April 2, 1885, was close to political Catholicism , i.e. the Alsace-Lorraine Center Party and, from 1919, the Union populaire républicaine (UPR). Within the UPR, the newspaper was part of the local wing. The circulation of the German-language daily newspaper totaled 44,500 in 1919 and 150,000 copies in 1935 with side editions. The circulation area was Strasbourg and the Lower Alsace .
