Karl Pfleger

Karl Pfleger (born October 6, 1883 in Dachstein , Alsace ; † April 7, 1975 in Behlenheim , Alsace) was a German theologian and essayist .

After attending grammar school , Karl Pfleger entered the seminary in Strasbourg in 1902 . In 1908 he was ordained a priest . Then he was vicar in Brumath , from 1919 to 1937 pastor in Bilwisheim , from 1937 to 1952 in Behlenheim, both places with less than 200 inhabitants at the time. The focus of his work was his literary commitment. For this he was given the titles Canon , Prelate and Dr. theol. as well as the Upper Rhine Culture Prize.

Act

Karl Pfleger tried to bring modern literature to the Catholic Christians of his time . He was familiar with many writers in world literature , especially with Schelling , Schopenhauer and Nietzsche in philosophy . Later he widely spread the thoughts of the Jesuit Teilhard de Chardin .

Karl Pfleger worked from 1907 to 1975 for the magazine Der Elsässer and for the magazine Die Seele, which existed from 1919 to 1962 . In addition, was an employee of the Christian Sunday , later continued as a Christian in the present . He has also written countless articles in many Catholic magazines and numerous books.
