Upper Rhine Culture Prize

The Upper Rhine Culture Prize was awarded annually by the Johann Wolfgang von Goethe Foundation in Basel , initiated by the Hamburg entrepreneur Alfred Toepfer , to people who excel in the field of local history or cultural research on the Upper Rhine region .

The awards took place from 1966 to 1995 and were then discontinued due to political criticism.
