AN / ALQ-136

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The AN / ALQ-136 is an airborne system for electronic countermeasures at short range. It is produced by the US group ITT and replaces the AN / ALQ-129 .

description

The ALQ-136 was designed to protect helicopters from guided missiles and anti-aircraft guns with pulse radar guidance. It detects enemy radar emissions without the aid of other sensors and initiates suitable countermeasures fully automatically. To date, around 1,400 systems have been delivered; the first use took place in 1991 during Operation Desert Storm .

variants

  • AN / ALQ (V) 1: This is the variant for the AH-1F Cobra . It is used in conjunction with the AN / ALQ-144 - IR interference system.
  • AN / ALQ (V) 2: This version is used on platforms for covert operations and electronic warfare . The system can fight several targets at the same time and has a higher radiation power. In addition, the software can be reconfigured in order to adapt the countermeasures to the expected range of risks.
  • AN / ALQ (V) 5: Similar to the (V) 1 variant, but is designed for use on AH-64 Apache helicopters and has modified transmitting and receiving antennas.
