Wolfgang Müller (church historian)

Wolfgang Müller (born March 13, 1905 in Karlsruhe , † March 15, 1983 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German Catholic church historian .

Wolfgang Müller studied Catholic theology at the University of Freiburg and, after being ordained a priest in 1928, initially worked in pastoral care. In 1940 he was awarded a Dr. theol. PhD, 1948 at the University of Munich as Dr. phil. In 1951 he completed his habilitation and was a private lecturer at the University of Freiburg . In 1956 he was appointed head of the university archives, and in 1957 he was appointed associate professor at the theological faculty of the University of Freiburg. From 1964 until his retirement in 1973 he taught there as a full professor for ecclesiastical history. His research area was the ecclesiastical history of the Upper Rhine .

Wolfgang Müller was chairman of the Church History Association for the Archdiocese of Freiburg from 1960 to 1983 and chairman of the Alemannic Institute in Freiburg from 1962 to 1983 .
