Peter Ziegler (historian)

Peter Ziegler (born September 10, 1937 in Wädenswil ) is a Swiss historian .

Live and act

Ziegler grew up in Wädenswil. After studying history, he trained as a primary and secondary teacher. At the University of Zurich he was to 1999 than in 1973 didactics teachers working for history.

research

Ziegler was the main author and editor of the nine-volume textbook series Times - People - Cultures , which was used in Swiss schools in the 1990s. Ziegler's most important research field is the local history of Wädenswil and the regional history of Lake Zurich . He is the author of numerous books, illustrated books, commemorative publications, art guides and articles on the history of the Lake Zurich region. Ziegler founded the yearbook of the city of Wädenswil in 1975 , which has been published annually since then. He is also the author of a two-volume standard work on the history of Wädenswil.

Peter Ziegler's private archive on local history forms the basis of the Documentation Center Oberer Zürichsee , which he founded and which now has a collection of 5,000 monographs and sources each .
