history

The magazine was initially published from 1988 to 1992, but had to be discontinued due to a lack of financial resources. The magazine's editor-in-chief in 1989 was Oswald LeWinter . The ISSN was originally 0940-3582, publisher Abraham Melzer . In 1989 the magazine had a circulation of 4,000 copies. Since 2009, the magazine has been available at kiosks every two months. Hajo Meyer , Rolf Verleger and Ruth Asfour were on the magazine's advisory board .

In April 2012 the weblog (semit.de) connected to the publisher and the magazine “SEMIT” was discontinued. The magazine also stopped appearing.

Since 2014 Abi Melzer has been running a blog with a similar name "Der Semit". The editorial team consists of Abraham (Abi) Melzer, Helga Wolff and W. Frankenberg.

subjects

The magazine dealt with the Middle East conflict and Jewish life in Germany . The magazine was often criticized for its polemical attacks against the Israeli government and the Central Council of Jews in Germany - Melzer's mother also distanced herself: "Abi, these are bad lies, why are you doing that?"
