Poor Hartmann
Poor Hartmann was a lay preacher from the 12th century who probably came from a noble family in the Rhineland or Thuringia.
From him, "Di rede des geloubin" or "rede ... von deme heiligen gelouben" has been handed down, a 3800-verse poem. Along with the writings of Heinrich von Melk , the work is one of the most important of the ascetic literature of its time. It contains a summary of the Christian doctrine of the faith according to the Nicene-Constantinopolitan Creed , the articles of which are prefixed to the individual sections in Latin. A poem by the Antichrist ascribed to him has not survived.
