Little Johnson
Little Johnson (original title: Hugh Johnson's Pocket Wine Book ) is a standard work of wine tasting by the author Hugh Johnson and appears annually, on September 5, 2016 in the 40th edition as Little Johnson 2017 . It contains ratings and brief tasting notes on more than 15,000 wines and their producers. The books are published by Hallwag- Verlag together with The Great Johnson . The English original edition was first published in 1977 and has also been published annually since then. It is considered the best-selling wine guide in the world.
Johnson and his 40-member team of authors and Verkoster- different growers , trademarks and trading houses and rate up to four stars. The book in paperback format has a good 400 pages and briefly describes the most important crops of renowned wineries from all wine-growing nations. The author allows French products to be the largest, with over 30 pages reserved for Bordeaux alone . Sorted according to the producers, Johnson classifies the wineries according to their characteristics and names the vintages with above-average qualities and their further potential. In addition, it briefly names and describes the most important grape varieties for the most important growing regions of a country ( Alsace , Gaillac , etc.).
