Derek A. Welsby

Derek Anthony Welsby (* 1956 ) is a British Egyptologist and currently curator for Nubian antiquities at the British Museum in London .

Welsby received his doctorate in 1980 from the University of Newcastle with the thesis "The Roman military defense of the British provinces in its later phases". From 1982 he was digging in numerous places in Sudan , for example in Soba and Kawa . He published numerous books.
