Sudan archeology

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Sudan Archeology (also Nubiologie ) is an archaeological specialist with a focus on Sudan . Sudan archeology was a part of Egyptology for a long time and partly still is today, as a large part of the inscriptions were written in Egyptian hieroglyphics and the cultures in Sudan were also strongly influenced by Egyptian culture for a long time.

Most of the early excavators in Sudan were also active in Egypt . Only in the last few decades did Sudan archeology try to establish itself as a separate subject. Especially Polish archaeologists are strongly represented with their excavations in the Christian places of Sudan. There they are affiliated with the Polish Center of Mediterranean Archeology , University of Warsaw . In German-speaking countries, the subject is available at the Humboldt University in Berlin .
