Derek Machan
Derek Machan (* 1974 in Waukesha ) is an American composer, pianist and music teacher.
The son of the composer and music teacher James Machan studied after attending Waukesha South High School at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire . (until 1997) and music education at the VanderCook College of Music in Chicago . During his studies he worked as a piano accompanist and choir director at the University of Wisconsin-Stout . He worked as a teacher at middle schools in Wisconsin and from 1999 at Kenosha-Tremper High School . Since 2001 he has been the choir director at Waterford Union High School . His vocal and instrumental compositions have been published by Alliance Publications . As a jazz pianist he performed a. a. with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra .
