James Machan

James "Jim" Machan (* 1939 ) is an American organist and church musician, composer and music teacher.

Machan studied music education at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and earned a master's degree in organ and church music from Northwestern University . This was followed by studies at the Royal School of Church Music in England. He served as a school choir director in Waukesha for more than thirty years and gave choir workshops for the Wisconsin School Music Association . He was organist and music director at various churches and is Minister of Music at the Dr. Martin Luther Church in Oconomowoc. As a composer, Machan stood out primarily with works and arrangements for choir. He is the father of the composer Derek Machan .
