Dermatosclerosis

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As dermatosclerosis refers to a chronic inflammatory reaction of the skin . Dermatosclerosis is typically caused by chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) . The resulting increased venous pressure leads to edema formation and, in the long term, sclerosis of the skin.

Dermatosclerosis usually begins on the inside of the lower legs and then, if left untreated, expands in terms of both surface and depth. In the further course, the fatty tissue under the skin (dermatoliposclerosis) and the fasciae (dermatolipofasciosclerosis) can also be affected. The therapy of dermatosclerosis corresponds to that of the CVI.
