Dervish Shaqa (* 1912 in Lluka e Epërme, Deçan , Ottoman Empire , today Kosovo ; † April 11, 1985 in Rashbull, Durrës , Albania ) was an Albanian folk singer .

biography

Dervish Shaqa lived in Kosovo until 1956 when he had to flee due to persecution by the UDBA . He went to Rashbull near Durrës , Albania with his singing partner, Demush Neziri . There he went back to his job, singing, and revealed his feelings in the form of songs, which was the only way for him to show his feelings. The pain of his abandoned family and his home. He speaks this mainly in the song Kur ta ktheva Kosovë shpinën, e lamë borë e gjetëm dimën ( Eng . When I turned my back on Kosova, we left the snow and found winter )

One of his most famous songs, Kënga e Rexhës ( Eng . The Song of Rexha ) is also known outside the Albanian language border and is also interpreted in Bosnian .
