Deagglomeration (process engineering)

Deagglomeration is a method of mechanical process engineering that is also known as structural breakdown .

When mixing of solids with small amounts of liquid are often formed agglomerates . If the agglomerates are undesirable, they must be destroyed (deagglomerated). Also cohesive flaky substances must be deagglomerated to z. B. to be processed into aerosols . Another application example is the recycling of lithium-ion batteries .

To generate the necessary high shear forces are colloid mills , jet mills , rotor mills are or ultrasound used.
