For the second generation of the SRX introduced at the end of 2009, shown in a sneak preview at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance 2008 and formally presented for the first time at the NAIAS 2009, the design of the Provoq concept study shown at the NAIAS 2008 was chosen . The vehicle was built by GM on the Theta Premium platform .
There was no longer a V8 engine for the second generation. The new price in the USA was about 34,155 US dollars.
After two years (after the end of the 2011 model year), the 2.8-liter turbo engine was discontinued due to a lack of demand (share of sales in the model range during the first year of sales in the USA: 10%).
The successor, the Cadillac XT5 , has been available in the USA since April 2016 .
