The Cadillac SLS is a 2006 offered by 2012 sedan in the upper middle class of the US car brand Cadillac and version of the Cadillac STS with 100 mm extended wheelbase.

Model history

It was built by Shanghai GM and offered on the Chinese and Arab markets. The STS was formally presented for the first time at Auto China 2006.

In China, the basic model initially cost around 500,000  RMB . Three engines were initially available for the SLS: a 2.8-liter V6 engine with a maximum output of 154 kW, a 3.6-l V6 engine with a maximum output of 187 kW or a 4.6 -l Northstar V8 engine with a maximum output of 235 kW.

In 2009 a facelift for the 2010 model year took place at the Guangzshou Auto Show, in which both the external appearance and the engine program were revised. From this point in time, either a 3.0-l V6 engine with a maximum output of 200 kW or a 3.6-l V6 engine with a maximum output of 229 kW, each with direct injection , became available. In the 2011 model year, a turbocharged , direct-injection 2.0-liter R4 engine with a maximum output of 193 kW was added below the 3.0-liter engine , and the 3.6-liter V6 engine was not added from the middle of the model year more offered.

Production of the SLS was discontinued at the end of 2012 and replaced by the Cadillac XTS in 2013 .

Previous use of the name SLS by Cadillac

The name SLS was already used in the fourth and fifth generation of the Cadillac Seville . It referred to an equipment variant and stood for Seville Luxury Sedan .
