In August 1925, Cadillac presented the Series 314 with a V8 engine as the successor to the V-63 .

Technically, the 314 was an improved version of its predecessor; The springs on the rear axle, the radiator, the steering (in spring 1926), the valve train (no rocker arm) and the drive of the generator (via belts instead of chains) were changed.

The bodies were also revised; they received longer, curved front fenders, front doors hinged at the front, a modified radiator grille and a one-piece windshield throughout.

The standard series (wheelbase as before 335.3 cm) no longer offered open models, but only 6 different closed two and four-door models; the custom series (368.3 cm wheelbase, 335.3 cm roadster) comprised a dozen different variants. Furthermore, for the first time since 1919, special bodies with an extra-long wheelbase of 381 cm were on offer (hearse and ambulance, plus an armored sedan weighing around 3 tons).

For the 1927 model year, the standard range was expanded to include a two-seater Sport Coupé and a four-door Sport Sedan. As part of the custom series, not only factory bodies were offered (the number of which was now 13, after a Dual Cowl Phaeton was added, among other things), but also a large number of superstructures supplied by well-known bodybuilders. From Fleetwood, no fewer than 15 different bodies in the list (starting at $ 4,775); The three bodies offered by Brunn and the Town Cabriolet with Willoughby body were in similarly high price regions.

In September 1927 the 314 was replaced by the Cadillac Series 341 ; by then, a total of 50,619 of the Series 314 had come off the production line.
