The Cadillac DTS is a full-size model of the Cadillac brand by General Motors , which was manufactured and sold between autumn 2005 and mid-2011 (excluding Europe).
It is the successor to the Cadillac DeVille , which had an equipment line called the DeVille Touring Sedan .
history
The DTS was formally shown for the first time at the Chicago Auto Show 2005. There is also a version with an extended wheelbase, the DTS-L, which was built by Accubuilt Industries / DaBryan Coach Builders in the 2007 and 2008 model years. In May 2011, the last Cadillac DTS was produced at GM's Detroit-Hamtramck plant.
Technology and equipment
The DTS is powered by a 4.6 l V8 petrol engine with automatic transmission and 205 kW (275 hp) or 217 kW (290 hp). A special feature in this class is the front-wheel drive . Automatic transmissions ensure the flow of power to the front wheels.
The 2005 model was equipped with 17 or 18-inch alloy wheels, an electronically controlled chassis, traction control, a stability program and enlarged brakes with brake assist. Cadillac equipped the DTS with air-conditioned front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, automatic air conditioning, rain sensor , heated washer fluid tank, parking assistant , electrically adjustable exterior mirrors, cruise control , an audio system with CD changer, a DVD navigation system as well as front, side and Window airbags off.
Special bodies
The American President's sedans (unofficially: “ Cadillac One ”) are officially considered modified DTS. However, they are apparently extremely protected individual pieces built on a truck chassis.
The one used by George W. Bush from 2001 is a modified Cadillac STS , which was optically changed to a DTS at the end of 2004. The new and larger one built for Barack Obama is based on the chassis of a GMC TopKick mid-range truck. It was first used at Obama's inauguration in January 2009.
