The Cadillac Series 40 is a model with a V12 engine built by the US automaker Cadillac from January to September 1935 . The Series 40 replaced the Cadillac Series 370 .
Model history
In January 1935, Cadillac presented the Series 40 (internally called Series 370-D) as the successor to the Series 370.
The changes compared to the direct predecessor were limited to new bumpers and the name change.
The Series 40 was also powered by Cadillac's six-liter V12, a version of the sixteen-cylinder engine with 135 hp introduced in 1928 that was shortened by four cylinders and drilled out.
The model range comprised 54 different variants, all based on a wheelbase of 370.8 cm and provided with Fleetwood bodies, from the five-seater standard sedan for 3995 dollars to the Town Cabriolet for 6395 dollars; The price of the twelve-cylinder was about $ 1,000 above the V8 models, but also $ 3,000 and more below the V-16.
From 1936 the Series 40 was continued under the name Series 80 . The exact number of pieces that the Series 40 reached is not known.
