The Cadillac Model L is a model built in 1906 by the American automaker Cadillac .
On the Model L is the Cadillac models based Model G and Model H .
Model L (1906)
After the Model D , which was only available in 1905 , Cadillac launched the Model L again in 1906, a four-cylinder model that rounded off and supplemented the model range that otherwise consisted of single-cylinder vehicles.
The Model L was a technically slightly modified version of the previous Model D on a longer wheelbase (279.4 cm) and with a drilled out four-cylinder in-line engine; Its bore and stroke dimensions (127 × 127 mm) corresponded exactly to the values of the single cylinder used by Cadillac in the other models . The Model L was available as an open touring car and - as the first Cadillac - also as a closed seven-seater sedan with four seats facing each other in the rear and a covered, but doorless and windowless front bench seat. The Model L only remained in production for a year and was produced in unknown but small numbers.
Model H (1906-1908)
The Model H was based on the technology of the Model L, but had a shorter wheelbase of 260 cm. This variant was available as a two-seater open runabout, four-seater open touring car and as a closed coupé with two seats. The engine came from the Model D. It was priced more than $ 1,000 below the Model L. In 1907, after the Model L was discontinued, a closed sedan version was added to the Model H program. The coupé was discontinued in 1908.
Model G (1907-1908)
The Model G, introduced in 1907, had a completely new, 20 hp four-cylinder engine (bore × stroke: 101.6 × 114.3 mm) and was located below the Model H (as the name already indicated). A five-seater touring car and an open runabout with two seats were offered, with an emergency seat in the rear if required. In 1908 the engine came to 25 instead of 20 hp according to a new standard. In addition, there was now the Model G as a sedan.
