Cadillac Series 10 , Series 20 and Series 30 are models with a V8 engine built by the American automaker Cadillac from January 1934 to autumn 1935 .

In detail, the terms stood for:

  • Series 10: Short-wheelbase (325.1 cm) versions with Fisher body;
  • Series 20: Medium-wheelbase (345.4 cm) versions with Fisher body;
  • Series 30: Long-wheelbase (370.8 cm) versions with Fleetwood body.

Model history

In January 1934, Cadillac presented the model series 10, 20 and 30, again with a V8 engine, as the successor to the Series 355 .

These formed the brand's entry-level models; above that were the V12 models Series 370 and (1935) Series 40 as well as the rare versions with V16 engines Series 455 and (1935) Series 60 .

Compared to their predecessor, the models in the 10/20/30 series had a thoroughly redesigned, X-shaped frame and a new front axle ("knee-action") with coil springs and telescopic shock absorbers, plus an anti-roll bar on the rear axle. On the other hand, the 5.8-liter V8 was taken over from its predecessor, and thanks to its compression ratio increased to 6.25: 1, it now had 120 instead of 115 hp. The bodies were also new, with larger window areas and a slightly sloping radiator and more sloping windshields than before; In addition, the Fisher models received the new “Turret Top” all-steel roof developed by this company.

The Series 10 offered 6 different models (coupés, convertibles and sedans), all with a wheelbase of 325.1 cm and with bodies from the Fisher body factory acquired by General Motors in 1926 . The Series 20 comprised 7 different models (including an open four-door) on a wheelbase of 345.4 cm, whose covers were also from Fisher. In the Series 30 with a long wheelbase (370.8 cm), the plant offered around 40 different bodies, all of which were supplied by the bodywork forge Fleetwood, which is also part of the group, and some had a flat, but predominantly a V-shaped, swept windshield; the Fleetwood bodies were also used in an identical form for the Cadillac models with V12 and V16 engines. Prices ranged from $ 2,395 for the two-seater Series 10 coupe to $ 5,595 for the Series 30 Town Cabriolet.

The 1935 models differed only in small details from the previous versions, but the V8 was now specified with 130 hp. The range of models also barely changed, but after a year break, the factory again added a long version with special bodies (ambulance and hearse) to its range, whose wheelbase was now 160 inches (406.4 cm).

In two years, a total of 8,318 of the series 10, 20 and 30 were produced. With the model year 1936, the series were replaced by the Series 60 .
