Forum Recht is a nationwide quarterly legal policy magazine published by the Federal Working Group for Critical Jurassic Groups (BAKJ) and Forum Recht e. V. is published. The authors are mostly students or in legal clerkship , as are the editorial staff themselves.

Since the beginning of the 1980s, the magazine has been devoting itself to topics and positions that are neglected in current legal or legal-political discussions. Forum Recht wants to counter the conservative legal professional discourse with a journal project in which critical voices can express themselves. These are united by the common approach of contrasting “ prevailing opinion ” with viewpoints that can be assigned to the progressive, left or alternative spectrum. The authors include both members of the editorial team and external persons. In addition to special focal points such as civil rights, criminal and asylum law or education policy, judgment discussions (RechtKurz) and political justice (Poljus) are also dealt with.

The recently published issues include: “German Conditions - Wachtmeister Dimpfelmoser, take over!” (01/2017), “One World, One Struggle - Law in a Global Context” (04/2016), “Image of Woman * - Constructions. Normalization. Violence ”(03/2016),“ Hotspot left on - European conditions ”(02/2016),“ No Escape - Migration and Border Regime ”(01/2016).

The magazine is a cooperation partner of the Internet portal Linksnet . The issues are published on the magazine's homepage for free download after the next issue has appeared.

In addition to the regular edition, Forum Recht publishes a first-semester information sheet once a year (entitled “Why study law”), which, according to the editorial team, is primarily aimed at first-year students. It is intended to encourage critical engagement, provide students with information that goes beyond the “prevailing opinion” and provide food for thought that deviates from the current legal conceptions. This special edition is distributed free of charge at the beginning of the semester at many universities.

Authors

The authors of Forum Recht are primarily students, trainee lawyers and young (legal) scholars. According to the company, its declared aim is to offer a forum for these people in particular.
