The Federal Working Group of Critical Jurassic Groups (BAKJ) is a network of left-wing critical initiatives in the field of legal education founded in 1989 . It brings together student groups in legal departments as well as trainee lawyers and interested individuals. The members are already active in the field of legal policy during their studies .

The BAKJ regularly organizes legal political congresses and gives with various civil rights organizations such as Humanist Union united with the Gustav Heinemann Initiative , International League for Human Rights , Committee for Basic Rights and Democracy , New Judges Association , PRO ASYL , Republican Lawyers Association and Association of Democratic Lawyers the Fundamental Rights Report . He is also co-editor of the magazine Forum Recht .

History of the BAKJ

The debate about legal training in Germany , which grew stronger at the end of the 1980s, was the founding topic of the BAKJ, which was founded on December 10, 1989 in Freiburg. This brought together a nationwide alliance of Forum Law , BAKJ, ASJ , BAG Democracy and Law of the Greens, AStA and the Jura student council of Bielefeld University, New Judges Association, RAV , judges and public prosecutors in the ÖTV, defense lawyers association and VDJ and sat down for a reform towards single-phase training . Like the successful trainee lawyers in 1970, he represented this at the German Jurists Day (DJT) from September 18 to 21, 1990, which would once again be a crucial point in the debate about training. In the end, however, he could not prevail.

Also in the next big discussion about legal education, which followed the election of Red-Green in 1998 and resulted in the reform of legal education in 2003, which u. a. introduced the priority areas, the BAKJ was in charge of the above. nationwide alliance committed.

In 2011, the Federal Working Group of Critical Jurassic Groups supported the “Petition on the Inclusion of Prisoners in the Pension Insurance” of the Committee for Fundamental Rights and Democracy .

Due to differences in content about Rita Süssmuth's participation in the presentation of the Fundamental Rights Report, the working group of critical jurists at the Humboldt University in Berlin (akj-berlin) no longer belonged to the BAKJ from June 7, 2001. However, in 2013 he again took part in the BAKJ Congress in Hamburg and thus became a member of the BAKJ again on June 16, 2013.

At the winter congress from November 17 to 18, 2012 in Leipzig, the new self-image of the BAKJ was adopted and the AKJ Freiburg was excluded from the BAKJ due to differences in content on the question of whether members of the BAKJ may defend neo-Nazis. However, the AKJ Freiburg changed its position on this issue in 2014 and was re-admitted to the BAKJ at the 2014 Summer Congress in Frankfurt. In 2018, the working group for critical lawyers (AKJ *) Halle (Saale) organized the summer congress in Halle / Saale with the support of the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation , which dealt in detail with the state of emergency at the G20 summit in Hamburg in 2017.
