The Cadillac Solitaire was a concept car that the Cadillac -Division of General Motors introduced the 1989th The luxury coupe was equipped with a V12 engine developing 430 hp (316 kW). The entire upper part of the car - from the lower edge of the windshield to the rear window - was made of break-proof safety glass. Headlights and taillights disappeared under body-colored surfaces, creating the illusion of a car without lighting.

The front and rear wheels were covered, with the front covers swiveling outwards when the vehicle was turned in order to ensure sufficient turning of the wheels. The car had no exterior mirrors.

The long doors were hung on double hinges in such a way that when opened they did not swing all the way out, but slightly forward. This made getting in and out of the car easier, even in tight parking spaces. When the doors were opened, the steering wheel automatically swiveled forward and the unoccupied front seats slid forward to allow access to the rear seats. When the doors were closed, the front seats and the steering wheel assumed one of three previously set positions.

At first there were also rumors that the Solitaire would soon go into series production, but this has not come true to this day.

The design of the 1991 Cadillac Eldorado Coupé is based on Solitaire.

The solitaire can be seen in several scenes in the film Demolition Man .
