The Cadillac XTS is a passenger car manufactured between 2012 and 2019 by the US car brand Cadillac from the General Motors group, which serves as the successor to the two large models STS and DTS .
Model history
A corresponding announcement for a vehicle in the upper middle class was already made by Cadillac at a press conference on August 11, 2009 and shown in the form of a design prototype in original size. The XTS Platinum concept vehicle was formally presented to the public at the 2010 North American International Auto Show .
The production model was formally presented for the first time at the LA Auto Show 2011; the market launch took place in mid-2012. The vehicle has been sold on the Chinese market since 2013. It received a facelift in 2017.
production
The vehicle was built together with the Chevrolet Impala at GM's Oshawa plant in Canada, but production there was discontinued at the end of 2018 as a result of the restructuring at GM. Shanghai GM has been building it for the Chinese market since 2013 .
Special variants
In addition to the variants offered for end customers, there are also some for more specific purposes:
- a variant for the rental car - fleet business Livery Package with the RPO code W20
- a variant with a wheelbase extended by 203 mm under the name XTS-L Coachbuilder Stretch Livery with the RPO code W30
- a variant as a chassis with a wheelbase that can be extended by up to 1778 mm under the name Coachbuilder Limousine with the RPO code V4U
- a special protection variant Armored with the RPO code B05 and
- a chassis variant for building a hearse Coachbuilder Funeral Coach with the RPO code BQ9 .
technology
The XTS is based on the Epsilon-II - platform with long wheelbase of the GM group, on which the sister models, the Chevrolet Impala of the tenth generation and the Buick LaCrosse of the second generation, are based.
Engines
In North America, the vehicle was available with a 3.6-liter V6 gasoline engine with direct fuel injection . While the less powerful stage of the engine is a naturally aspirated engine with a maximum output of 224 kW initially and 227 kW from model year 2014, the more powerful stage, which was available from model year 2014, has two turbochargers and thus achieves a maximum output of 306 kW.
In China, the only engine available is a 2.0-l R4 petrol engine with direct petrol injection and turbocharging with a maximum output of 198 kW.
drive
The car is available with front-wheel drive or, on request, with all-wheel drive . The power is transmitted via a six- speed automatic transmission.
