The Cadillac STS is a luxury vehicle that was produced by the manufacturer Cadillac between autumn 2004 and mid-2011.

history

The STS replaced the Seville model series in autumn 2004 , and was first presented formally at NYIAS 2004. Its name originally stood for Seville Touring Sedan or Sport Touring Sedan . In doing so, he followed the new Cadillac nomenclature, which only uses abbreviations as model names. Like the first generation CTS , GM built it on the Sigma platform . In contrast to the old Seville, the STS was supposed to look sportier and was compared with the BMW 5 Series and the Infiniti M45 .

A new STS product cost US $ 47,495 on the American market and around € 47,000 on the German market. A version of the STS with a 100 mm longer wheelbase was offered on the Chinese market under the name Cadillac SLS

The engines for the STS were initially a 4.6-liter Northstar V8 engine, which achieved a maximum output of 239 kW (325 hp), and a 3.6-liter V6 engine with 189 kW (257 hp) ). In Europe, the STS was Cadillac's top model within the luxury class , while in the USA the role was given to the DTS.

The STS-V , which has a 4.4 liter V8 engine with 345 kW (469 hp) maximum power, was added shortly after its introduction.

Facelift

In autumn 2007 the STS was given a facelift for the 2008 model year , which included a modified radiator grille, a new rear bumper and a revised interior as well as new features (such as lane change assistant and a lane departure warning system ); the 3.6-liter V6 engine now had a maximum output of 222 kW and direct injection . The facelift was formally presented at NYIAS 2007. In addition, there was a new 3.6 liter V6 engine from October 2009 for the 2010 model year, which now had a maximum output of 225 kW.

End of production and successor model

The last STS rolled off the line at the beginning of May 2011. In spring 2012 the XTS was presented, replacing both the STS and the DTS.
