Model history
In the 1940 model year, the Cadillac model program included the Sixty Special , Series 62 , 72 and 75 (all with V8 engines and bodies from Fisher Bodies or Fleetwood ) and the Series 90 (V16, Fleetwood bodies).
A new addition to the range was the Series 72, which comprised eight different five- to nine-seat sedan models on a wheelbase of 350.5 cm: Touring Sedan with and without partition, Imperial Sedan, Formal Sedan as well as Business Touring Sedan and Business Touring Imperial Sedan . All of the bodies in this series came from Fleetwood. Like all Cadillacs of the year with the exception of the Series 90, these models were powered by a 90 ° V8 with a displacement of 5.7 liters with upright valves and 140 hp.
As early as 1941, the Series 72 was replaced by the Cadillac Series 67 with a Fisher body.
A total of 1525 copies of the Series 72 were produced in model year 1940.
