The Cadillac V-63 is a model with a V8 engine built by the US automaker Cadillac between 1923 and 1925 .

Model history

In September 1923, Cadillac presented the new V-63 as the successor to the Type 61 .

The V-63 was a slightly modified Type 61; The most important innovations were mechanically operated front wheel brakes and a balanced crankshaft.

With a wheelbase of unchanged 335.3 or 368.3 cm in the case of the long models, the plant offered 14 different bodies: touring cars, Phaeton, Roadster, Victoria, Coupé, Sedan, Landau Sedan, Imperial Sedan, Limousine, Town Brougham and the seven-seater Suburban.

The bodies differed in details from their predecessors; so the hoods were longer and the radiator 2.5 cm higher.

The big novelty of the 1925 vintage were the custom models (based on the term custom-built ). With these designs, which were priced around $ 600 above the standard models, the customer had the choice between two dozen color combinations and 10 different seat covers. The variety of colors was made possible by the new, quick-drying Duco nitrocellulose lacquers from DuPont . Other special features of the custom models were the slightly backward-sloping windshield and the wheelbase extended to 350.5 cm. The long models (wheelbase 368.3 cm) were integrated into the custom series.

All models of the new year received chrome-plated radiator grills and headlamp housings.

In August 1925, the V-63 was replaced by the Cadillac Series 314 ; by then, a total of 35,500 units of the V-63 had come off the production line.
