The Desert Research Foundation of Namibia ( DRFN ; in German about Foundation for Desert Research in Namibia ) is a private research institution that has been a state joint venture in Namibia since 1998 . The research focus is the desert . Among others, the Namibian Ministry for Environment and Tourism and the German-Namibian Society used many of the research results for the environmental policy of Namibia.
The foundation for desert research also includes the only year-round desert research and training station Gobabeb ( Gobabeb Research & Training Center ) located in the Namib-Naukluft-Park nature reserve .
