Desmodue

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The additional name Desmodue bear all Ducatis with two valve - cylinder heads . The word is made up of desmodromic and due (Italian, two). Until 1988, all Ducatis had two-valve technology , which is why the term was only coined with the appearance of the four-valve Ducati, the desmoquattros . Due to the technical performance disadvantage of the two- valve compared to the four-valve technology , the desmodue motors are not installed in the superbikes . Due to the lower power density of these engines, in contrast to the desmoquattros , they still get by with air / oil cooling instead of water cooling .
