The Desolata Lakes are a group of three lakes on South Georgia in the South Atlantic . They are located south of Mills Peak on the Barff Peninsula .

The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 2014 based on the name of the Pachyptila Valley . Its namesake is the pigeon petrel ( Pachyptila desolata ) that breeds in this area .
