Desperado

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The term desperado (derived from Spanish desesperado, “desperate”, “desperate”) describes in the narrower sense the member of a group outside of any laws, which usually pursues extreme political and subversive intentions.

In a more general, broader sense, it means an anomistic or anarchist extremist who ruthlessly pursues his goals, which do not always have to be politically motivated. The term plays an important role in the literature on the conquest of the American West in this context . In texts about the Mexican Revolution he describes both insurgent peasants and criminals who used the political unrest for their own purposes.

In the broadest sense, the word describes a person who has nothing more to lose and is accordingly ruthless.
