The Damoiseau distillery is a distillery located in the municipality of Le Moule in Guadeloupe ( French West Indies ). The distillery produces rhum agricole , which is distilled from fermented sugar cane juice.

history

The Bellevue estate and the distillery were founded towards the end of the 19th century. Roger Damoiseau acquired the in April 1942.

Still owned by the family today, Rhum agricole with an alcohol content of 40, 50 and 55% and Rhum vieux (Rhum agricole that has matured for at least three years) are produced there. The company is run by Hervé Damoiseau, Roger's grandson, and is the last remaining distillery on Grande-Terre .

anecdote

In the distillery's logo you can see two men walking and carrying a rum barrel. A popular story has it that Guadeloupians will not stop drinking rum until one of the porters puts their raised foot on the ground.
