Detlef Blöcher (born January 15, 1953 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German physicist and for many years was director of the Christian aid and mission organization DMG interpersonal in Sinsheim near Heidelberg. He is the author of several international studies and numerous specialist articles.

Life

The doctor of physics worked in medical research and teaching in Germany and later in his specialist field in cancer research and between 1986 and 1990 as a lecturer in the Middle East. In 1991 he became personnel manager of the German Mission Association (today DMG interpersonal). In 2000 he took over its management from Manfred A. Bluthardt, which he held until 2018.

Detlef Blöcher has also been an Associate of the Mission Commission of the World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) since 1996 , on whose behalf he has led several missiological research projects. In this context, specialist articles were written about the studies REMAP I and REMAP II, which deal with methods, effectiveness and limits of modern Christian missionary work. In addition, Blöcher is an expert in Christian mission and development aid and has published numerous specialist articles in Christian magazines such as the decision and idea spectrum .

From 2004 to 2018, Blöcher was also the chairman of the Working Group of Evangelical Missions (AEM). Blöcher is considered a proponent of the controversial mission to the Jews .
