Detroit Emeralds
Detroit Emeralds was an American vocal trio that achieved international success in the early and mid-1970s as part of the disco movement at the time .
history
In the mid-1960s, the brothers Abraham and Ivory Tilmon founded the vocal trio "The Emeralds" with their school friend James Mitchell in Little Rock , Arkansas . From 1966 they appeared regularly in a nightclub in Detroit and then decided to include this Detroit in their band name.
In 1968 the trio got a record deal and had a small success with "Show Time" , the song reached 89th place in the US charts. After that, they changed record labels and were produced by Willie Mitchell , who was already successful with Al Green .
From 1971 the Detroit Emeralds were represented in the charts, from 1973 mainly in the UK charts. They later opened their own nightclub in Detroit , which they called "The Emerald Lounge" and where they gave newcomers the chance to make their first appearances.
