The Detroit Lake is an artificial lake in the US state of Oregon , which is formed by the Detroit Dam. It has an area of 14.3 km² and a maximum depth of 134 m. The average depth is 37 m. Its shore length measures 51.4 km.
The lake is at an altitude of 481 m above sea level. d. M. and is created by the damming of the North Santiam River . It stores water for the city of Salem, 74 km away, and its immediate surroundings. The lake is mainly used to generate electricity.
