German-Faroese Circle of Friends

The Deutsch- Färöische Freundeskreis eV (DFF) ( Faroese Týskt-Føroyskt Vinafelag ) was founded in 1988 and is a private association for cultural cooperation between the German-speaking area and the Faroe Islands .

The DFF is the only cultural exchange organization with the Faroe Islands outside Scandinavia. The association publishes the magazine Tjaldur ("Oystercatcher"). TJALDUR contains reports from the Faroese daily press, translations of Faroese poetry and short stories. There are also book reviews and news about literature publications. The magazine appears twice a year with a volume of around 100 pages per issue.

There is also a series of publications in which u. a. a classic like the first book on the Faroe Islands, Natural and Political History of the Faroe Islands (German 1757) by Lucas Jacobson Debes was reissued.

For the Frankfurt Book Fair 2011, the association gave the special publication Faroe Islands, the land of literature. Insights and discoveries about Faroese literary history as an e-book, of which the Scandinavian Astrid van Nahl emphasizes the collection of book reviews of the magazine Tjaldur and judges " A book that belongs in every relevant seminar library" .
