German standard procedures for water, waste water and sludge analysis

The Deutsche Einheitsverfahren ( DEV ) are a loose-leaf collection of working regulations for water analysis published since 1960 and have developed into the standard work in this field. The publisher is the Wasserchemische Gesellschaft - specialist group in the Society of German Chemists and the Water Management Standards Committee (NAW) of DIN (German Institute for Standardization).

In the meantime (as of September 2012) the collection has grown to 10 volumes with 290 procedures (including a number of DIN EN and ISO standards) and is updated and expanded every four months with additional deliveries.

The DEV contain regulations for the following areas:

  • General rules for sampling and quality assurance
  • Testing of smell and taste
  • Determination of physical and physico-chemical parameters
  • Determination of dissolved anions and cations
  • Determination of jointly ascertainable groups of substances
  • Determination of dissolved gases
  • Determination of summary action and substance parameters ( sum parameters )

  • Test procedure with aquatic organisms
  • Process of biological-ecological investigation
  • Determination of individual components
  • Investigation of mud and sediments
  • Suborganismic test procedures
