German Society for Music Geragogy

The German Society for Music Geragogy (DGfMG eV) is a nationwide association that pursues a non-profit educational purpose. It promotes training in music geragogy as well as the professional development of this discipline in education, social services, health care and nursing. The DGfMG is itself a member of the German Music Council . It was founded on September 29, 2009 and is based in Münster.

Membership is open to all natural persons who are active in music geragogy research and / or teaching, or those who have completed certified training as a music geragogue or who can prove comparable qualifications in theory or practice.

Hans Hermann Wickel from the Münster University of Applied Sciences has been its chairman since the company was founded . Theo Hartogh from the University of Vechta has been his deputy ever since.

Goals and purposes of the association

The German Society for Music Geragogy advocates:

  • Promotion of training in music geragogy
  • Improvement of the music geragogical research situation
  • Professional development of music geragogy in education, social and health care and in nursing
  • Ensuring musical educational opportunities for older people
