The German Society for Burn Medicine e. V. (DGV) is a scientific and professional society. The aim is to promote research, prophylaxis, prevention and therapy in the field of treating burn injuries in Germany. It is also involved in the field of medical and non-medical further and advanced training in the field of burn medicine . The specialist society is a member of the Working Group of Scientific Medical Societies and the European Burn Association . The company is based in Berlin . The office is located in the Langenbeck-Virchow-Haus in Berlin.

structure

Members

The members are made up of full members, extraordinary members, sustaining members and honorary members. Full members are plastic surgery specialists who treat burn injuries. Associate members are doctors and non-medical staff who work in the treatment of burn injuries. In contrast to full members, they are not entitled to vote. After two years of membership, full membership can be applied for. Supporting members can become natural and legal persons who particularly want to promote the concerns of burn medicine.

Doctors who have made a special contribution to burn medicine can be appointed honorary members. Non-medical persons can be honored with a corresponding membership.

Board

The board consists of the president, the vice-president, a secretary and the treasurer. The prerequisite for membership in the board of directors is an activity as head physician, chief physician or senior physician at a burn center. The board of directors is elected by the general assembly, which meets once a year.

Publications and work

The association publishes recommendations, statements and guidelines on topics of burn medicine and on the technical and personnel equipment of burn centers. Until 2011, an electronic journal was published on the German Medical Science portal , the journal GMS Burn Medicine . The e-journal GMS German Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery - Burn and Hand Surgery has been published together with the German Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons since 2012 .
