German Society for Cell Biology

The German Society for Cell Biology (DGZ) is a society in which zoologists , botanists , microbiologists , biochemists , biophysicists , physicians , geneticists , molecular biologists , immunologists and other people active in biological research as well as some industrial and media companies have come together. The aim of the company is to promote cell biology research and to establish cell biology as an independent subject at as many universities as possible. The DGZ is a member of the German National Committee (DNK) , which represents the interests of bioscientists in international organizations. The society is a member of the Association of Biology, Biosciences and Biomedicine in Germany eV (VBIO) , which is committed to the biosciences in Germany.

The society awards several science prizes:

  • Binder innovation award
  • Werner Risau Prize
  • Paul Ehrlich and Ludwig Darmstaedter Prize
  • Carl Zeiss Lecture
