The German International School Changchun (DISC) has been recognized by the Federal Administration Office (BVA) as a German school abroad in the People's Republic of China since 2008 . The language of instruction is German. The school is located in Changchun, an industrial location about 800 km northeast of Beijing and uses the premises of the American International School Changchun (CAIS). The German School Association Changchun acts as the sponsor.

school

The DISC currently looks after 55 students in grades 1 to 10, who are taught by eleven teachers recruited in Germany. Pupils of all types of schools meet here, from elementary school to secondary school and secondary school. English is taught from grade 1; French, Spanish or Latin can be chosen as a second foreign language from grade 6. In addition, all students take part in Chinese lessons. As is usual in this foreign school region, the school work is based on the framework curricula of the State of Thuringia .

kindergarten

The German School has a kindergarten attached to it, which is located on the grounds of the English Columbia Kindergarten in Changchun. Five educational employees are currently looking after 30 children between the ages of three and six.

degrees

There is an examination cooperation between DISC and the German School Seoul International (DSSI). Final written and oral exams will be taken in Seoul, South Korea. The qualifications obtained there are recognized by the Standing Conference (KMK) and are therefore treated as equivalent to qualifications obtained in Germany. By passing the exam, high school students are granted access to the qualification phase of the upper secondary level.
