The German International School in Abu Dhabi was founded in 1976 as the German School Abu Dhabi by Strabag AG.
history
In 2006/2007 the school was officially recognized as a German school abroad . The number of pupils rose to 138. In 2007/2008 the school received approval to introduce the upper level of the gymnasium and in 2010/2011 was able to take the German international Abitur examination for the first time. In 2008 it was possible to conclude an agreement with the government of Abu Dhabi in which the school was given a high-quality school building free of charge. In return, the school undertook to admit ten children from the emirate free of charge every year.
