German war cemetery in Cernay

The German war cemetery Cernay in the Haut-Rhin department is a military cemetery for 7,085 German war dead from World War I and 1,479 German war dead from World War II in Cernay (Haut-Rhin) , France.

location

Cernay is about 35 kilometers south of Colmar and lies on the N 83. The cemetery is located on the southern outskirts of the city on Rue de la Ferme and can be reached via the D 34.

The dead

7,085 dead from the First World War are buried here, including the German dead in the battle for the Hartmannswillerkopf in the First World War. German prisoners of war who died in southern France were also reburied here from their individual graves. The 1,479 fallen of the Second World War were buried in the rear part of the cemetery.
